Training the future trainers of Personal Data Protection with PDPC

Six days and six experts from Finland and Germany. Their mission – training of trainers (ToT) course for personal data protection officers and managers from public and private sector. Intensive training course, led by Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) of Tanzania, supported by the Digital for Tanzania (D4T) Twinning project was organised in Zanzibar 21-26.7.2025.

During these six days, our six experts from Finland and Germany and PDPC management focused on training Data Protection Officers (DPO’s) to become trainers. The objective was to give our participants from public and private sector the tools and knowledge to train new DPO’s to enforce data privacy laws effectively in Tanzania, in both public and private sectors.

The intensive training focused on:

  • Trainer skills, learning styles, motivation, learning environment and learning atmosphere
  • Learning objectives, target groups, programme planning
  • Handling non-interactive or disruptive participants
  • Different teaching methods
  • Trainer’s presentation skills
  • Learning materials and visualization
  • Specific training on personal data protection
  • Evaluation of education and training and feedback

In addition to training and smaller exercises, our participants exercised themselves in groups on presentation skills, by planning and implementing a good data protection lesson for other groups and evaluating other groups teaching lessons.

Digital for Tanzania (D4T) Twinning project will keep on supporting the successful digital transformation of Tanzania through capacity building
