Digital for Tanzania (D4T) Twinning project organised four days of intense training with Personal Data Protection Commission of Tanzania (PDPC) in Dodoma, Tanzania, 17-20.6.2025. The training organised by 4 European experts from Finland and Germany and PDPC management provided a comprehensive training on Personal Data Protection Concepts and Best Practises to the whole staff of PDPC.

The Director General of the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), Dr. Emmanuel Mkilia, delivered an inspiring message during this specialized training session for PDPC staff in Dodoma. He emphasized the active role that individuals and organizations must play in the ongoing technological transformation.

“In technological transformation, we are not just witnesses; we are part of it,” Dr. Mkilia stated. His words underscored the importance of proactive engagement in safeguarding personal data amid rapid digital advancements.

The training session, which marks the launch of a comprehensive program on the Personal Data Protection Act, aims to equip PDPC employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to enforce data privacy laws effectively. This initiative has been supported by Digital for Tanzania Twinning Project facilitated by the European Union Delegation, underscoring regional collaboration in strengthening data protection frameworks.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mkilia highlighted the need for a collective effort in building a secure digital environment where innovation and privacy coexist harmoniously. He called on all stakeholders to recognize their responsibility in protecting citizens’ personal information.
