Project mission and impact

EU Support to Digital Transformation in Botswana is a three-year EU-funded initiative that accelerates Botswana’s digital transformation and supports the country’s ambition to become a knowledge-based economy by 2036.

The project supports the implementation of the SmartBots Digital Transformation Strategy, adopted by the Government of Botswana in July 2020 to guide digital progress across all sectors of the economy.

The EU Support to Digital Transformation in Botswana initiative aims to:

  • strengthen legal, regulatory, and governance frameworks (specific objective 1),
  • improve access to inclusive digital public services (specific objective 2), and
  • support innovation and entrepreneurship, especially for women and youth (specific objective 3).

HAUS contributes by building the skills and capacity of Botswana’s public sector (specific objective 1) and supporting digital innovation and entrepreneurship, with a special emphasis on women and youth (specific objective 3). The focus is on building real skills and making sure digital transformation benefits everyone in Botswana.
