HAUS Brings Together Investors to Explore Opportunities in Africa’s Innovation Ecosystems

Last week, HAUS Finnish Institute of Public Management hosted an investor dinner in Helsinki as part of the Africa-Europe Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB) initiative and its Building Investor Bridges (BIB) programme under the Access to Finance component.

The event brought together a carefully selected group of investors, fund managers and ecosystem leaders to discuss investment opportunities emerging across Africa’s rapidly evolving innovation ecosystems and to strengthen connections between European investors and African markets.

A key message from the evening was clear: access to finance is ultimately about relationships. Successful investment partnerships are built on trust, understanding and long-term engagement. Creating opportunities for dialogue is therefore an essential part of strengthening investment links between Europe and Africa.

Through the Africa-Europe Digital Innovation Bridge initiative, HAUS and its partners are supporting the development of stronger connections between European investors and African entrepreneurs, startups and innovation ecosystems. The initiative seeks to increase awareness of investment opportunities, facilitate networking and encourage greater investment activity across the continent.

The discussions highlighted the importance of trusted forums where investors can exchange experiences, share insights and build the relationships that often precede investment decisions.

The event welcomed representatives from a wide range of organisations, including Nordic Development Fund, Finnfund (Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation Ltd.), Finnish Business Angels Network (FIBAN), Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN), Invesdor Group, Springvest Oyj, Vauraus Finland Oy, Outdoor Media Oy, Valo Oy, TAH Foundation, SheVestments, Axiomera Partners, and HAUS.

HAUS also extends its appreciation to colleagues from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, RVO) for contributing to the discussions and strengthening cooperation among AEDIB implementation partners.

The investor dinner demonstrated the growing interest among European investors in Africa’s innovation landscape and reaffirmed the importance of continuing to build bridges between investors, innovators and ecosystems across both continents.

Building bridges starts with a conversation.
