1st Tanzania AI Forum and “Innovation in Serengeti”
Tanzania is stepping up fast on all levels of AI, starting with the vibrant AI startup community to more established IT-companies and Tanzanian Government creating the national regulations and policies to support the adaptation of new technologies and innovation. Marking this fast adaptation of emerging technologies, 1st Tanzania AI Forum, organized by the Information and Communication Technologies Commission (ICTC), was held 28-29.7.2025 in the beautiful Super Dome, Masaki, Dar es Salaam.
Our D4T expert Mr. Tapani Rinne was speaking 28.7.2025 on “Building Trust in AI: Towards a People-Cantered and Privacy-Respecting Digital Future”, followed by our own Mr. Dennis Karugaba to moderate the panel discussion on “Youth in AI: How is AI Shaping the Future of Work?”.
Inspiring presentations, and it is clear, that these young entrepreneurs and professionals are on their way to have a huge impact on Tanzanian digital economy through their approach on use of AI as an everyday tool for innovation and work.
On 29.7.2025, D4T expert Mr. Kimmo Rousku took the stage by having a presentation on how AI can help in professional work and how to ensure the safe use of AI services. Puzzling The Super Dome full of eager listeners, “AI-Kimmo” (Mr. Kimmos’ digital twin) concluded AI tips in Swahili, which really was a way to gain attention to his presentation.
“AI-Kimmo” had also composed a song dedicated to this 1st Tanzania AI Forum. You can listen his song “Innovation in the Serengeti” here.
Digital for Tanzania (D4T) Twinning project will keep on supporting the successful digital transformation of Tanzania through capacity building.
